Summer Volunteering at Hamilton Health Sciences

Help the Hamilton Health Sciences organization by volunteering as a Family/Patient Care volunteer. Although volunteering activities are suspended until further notice due to COVID-19, you can still fill out an application. It will be reviewed and when volunteering re-opens, you will be contacted. The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to “recognizing patients as experts in their own experience and actively partnering with them to improve the quality, safety and experience of their care.” The main form of contact is via the office of patient experience at 905-521-2100 ext. 75240 OR email at patientexperience@hhsc.ca

St. Joseph's Health Care and Research Institute

You can volunteer as a patient care volunteer, non-clinical volunteer or participate in research in Hamilton near McMaster University. UHN: University Health Network

You can choose to volunteer at the Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital or Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. You can shadow a doctor in specific clinics, help with adult care, children care or as a remote/on-site research assistant. In order to become a volunteer, there are a plethora of steps you need to accomplish before you can obtain this position. St. Michael's Hospital 

St. Michael's Hospital is one of the top 15 research hospitals in all of Canada! Research at St.Michael's Hospital presents undergraduate students the opportunity to research with a supervisor regarding a plethora of health-related issues. The Keenan Research Summer Student (KRSS) Program is a renowned summer research program affiliated with St. Michaels Hospital that provides on-site research opportunities and valuable research-related skills and experience. CPA Ontario

You can choose different sub-fields within this volunteering group, so your experiences can match with what you find interesting!

Involves working with certified companies to provide clerical or mentorship services for their accounting activities. Examples include; Tax Preparation Assistance, Practice Inspection Committee (Auditing), Professional Conduct Committee, Small and Medium Accounting Practices, Mentoring, etc. Most programs have a registration that occurs in the fall, and most are also currently accepting registrations.
